A native Charlottean, Preston Finnie graduated from UNC Charlotte in December 2012 with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Prior to joining the UNC Charlotte Solar Decathlon team, he worked with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) as an intern for two years. He also served as Project Manager/Principle Engineer for "Renewable and Modular Micro-Source for Smart Grid Applications," a UNC Charlotte Research Project. Preston’s future plans include a Master of Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. He intends to remain in the energy sector. Preston’s primary responsibilities on the UrbanEden team are the design of the engineering subsystems: Electrical, HVAC, Fire Suppression, Plumbing, and Controls. He also directs and manages the engineering sub-teams.
